Tom Trago's Guilty Pleasures
You never quite know what to expect when you're on a dance floor piloted by Tom Trago, but therein lies the magic. As a fervent digger and lover of all styles and vibes across the electronic and dance spectrum, he's the perfect DJ to quiz on his guilty pleasures. That's perhaps not the best term to use given its negative connotation, as almost everyone has at least one cheesy pop song they harbour a secret love for. But fuck it, that's what we're going with - guilty pleasures! Over to you, Mr Trago.
Angie Stone - Wish I Didn't Miss You
This one is still hitting on me, because I've also had so many goodbyes. The original is a banger too, but I really liked how they chopped the beat on this.
The Weeknd - Starboy ft. Daft Punk
Pure class and arrogance in the way that I love it. Dark, futuristic and well produced. The Weeknd also really drops some smoothness on those vocals. Thomas Banghalter & Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo are top class producers.
Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River
This beat just works so well with the vocal chops and I like that Timberlake sings so staccato. I have also always been a big Timbaland fan. The combination of samples and synths on this are magic!
O.T. Genasis - CoCo
Strong beats and great simplicity that resonates with everybody! Nuff said.
Kanye West - Monster
Love the beat and sampled hotness - my kinda thing! And dig Nicky Minaj's vocals here too.
