Five reasons to dance to Fred P before you die
We are thrilled to welcome a true icon of house music to Club 77.

This month we welcome a true icon of house music to Club 77.

Also known as Black Jazz Consortium, Fred P is a New York born, Berlin based DJ renowned for his seamless storytelling and ability to guide dancers through reflective, soul-stirring territories.

Without a doubt one of the scene’s bucket list DJ you need to see before you kick the proverbial, here are five reasons to wiggle your butt down to 77 on Sunday Feb 23.

1. He has direct lineage to house music’s founding fathers

Born and raised in New York City, Fred was exposed to the formative sounds and DJ mastery of Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles – two pivotal figures in house music history (Frankie Knuckles has often been hailed as the ‘Godfather’ of the genre). It was these two legends who laid the solid foundation for his own artistry.

2. He’s a true artist and an impeccable DJ

In an age when dance music is being hijacked for all the wrong reasons and social media has sadly diminished the value of music in our culture, it’s heartening to know there are still artists like Fred P around, who are in the game for the love of the game. And let’s be honest – he blows those Instagram DJs out of the water with his skills and flawless track selections.

3. Fred P is all about positive vibes

A soulful DJ who’s got soul, Fred is known for using his platforms to spread positive vibes. “I wanna give positive reinforcement. You know, we’re not alone, we’re all in the same soup together,” he recently told Juno Daily.

“Let me try to help you raise your vibration with a sound that could possibly help you cope, organise your thoughts a little better to turn it into a more positive influence, to help you move in a way that will get [you] towards whatever it is [you’re striving for].”

4. He plays damn good music

With over two decades of sonic exploration under his belt, Fred’s dance floors are transformative experiences. Translation: he plays damn good music to make you move. It’s as simple as that.

5. Fred’s 77 gig is supported by one of Sydney’s finest

A great party with a world class headliner needs a solid support DJ to set the mood perfectly. And we couldn’t think of anyone better than local legend and the always dependable Jamie Palmer to hand over the decks to Fred this Sunday. Excited yet?

Don't miss Fred P playing Club 77 alongside Jamie Palmer, Sunday 23 February. Event info and guest list HERE
